Daniel Evans joined Chichester Festival Theatre in the summer of 2016 as Artistic Director, appointed with a mandate to build on the success of the past and take the Theatre into its next chapter. Festival 2017, the first season under the leadership of Daniel and Rachel Tackley (Executive Director 2016 – 2018), continued Chichester’s tradition of epic productions in the Festival Theatre and compelling, intimate dramas and world premieres in the Minerva Theatre, alongside an exciting musical in the Festival Theatre. Three 2017 productions – Quiz, King Lear and Caroline, Or Change transferred to London; King Lear, with Ian McKellen, was broadcast to cinemas nationwide and internationally by NT Live.
